12 Nov 2008 - FSA warned TCF change is a risk
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has announced it will accelerate the full integration of its Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) initiative so that firms will be tested on its principles from January 2009. The original deadline for firms to have TCF procedures in place was next month, with the FSA not due to commence testing it as part of a firm's usual supervision until September next year.
However, the regulator has decided TCF should now be included in its core supervisory work eight months earlier than planned. The Financial Services Consumer Panel has expressed its concern at the sudden move. "The FSA is taking a calculated risk in assuming firms will have embedded the TCF principle into their operations, as this was not the case when it was last reviewed in March 2008," said chairman of the Panel, David Lipsey. "
Consumer confidence and trust in FOR-PMI Ltd is vital for its long term survival and this can only be gained if consumers believe they are being treated fairly.
FOR-PMI Ltd implemention of ISO 9001-2000 over eight years ago will serve us well however we must continue to seek improvements and understand what the regulator requires and expects.
